Spiros Simeonakis and Cristina Composto, the founder of the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal Club, has long understood that there is a great need for quality football coaching, this need has in recent times become hard to ignore, with the incredible interest in this country of the game prior to the revolution of Football - which resulted in Australia exceeding everybody’s expectations at the 2006 FIFA World Cup – and which has been dwarfed by the phenomenal and insatiable appetite for the game since.
As such, over the last couple of years, a lot of work has been undertaken by Spiros and group of dedicated people has resulted in the opening of the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal Club, in June 2004. For many years Spiros Simeonakis had a longstanding dream of a Futsal club in South Australia, Adelaide offering a program of the highest standard allowing children of varying ages to develop as players in an environment designed to allow each child to progress to their full potential via both weekly training sessions and matches against local, national and international opponents.
This dream is no longer just a dream, it is now coming to fruition and has become possible because of the collective vision of a handful of determined people at the club who are passionate about Futsal.

We are a young and very ambitious organisation, with a fantastic group of young people committed to the vision of the club who are really driving everything we do. This year, a comprehensive structure is being put into place, these improvements include changes that will affect the way we coach and train participants as well as the way the organisation is managed off court.
On court, we are putting in place an advanced development plan, of a standard that will rival the best Futsal programs the world over.
Off court, the number of venues operated by Adelaide Stingrays will expand, interstate tournaments will be entered and also held in Adelaide, highly qualified Futsal coaches from Brazil will be visiting Adelaide to conduct international coaching courses and this will all culminate in the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal Club visiting Brazil on whirlwind trip consisting of training camps, a series of tournaments and as eager spectators of the biggest Futsal event on the planet, The FIFA Futsal World Cup.
We at the Adelaide Stingrays Futsal Club, are striving to achieve all our goals and will set the standard in the Futsal community in the country and view anything less as a failure on our part.
To say that 2009 will be a year to remember by each member of the club especially by our younger members, is an understatement. Instead, it is definitely one event that we are all relishing leading up to this magical event and will certainly long reminisce upon for many years to come.
