STINGRAYS FUTSAL
Referee’s Roles and Responsibilities
Besides officiating and enforcing the laws of Futsal within a game, the responsibilities of the referee are as follows:
BEFORE THE GAME:
Ø Acquire game sheet and game ball.
Ø Ensure that all players have paid.
Ø Make sure all players are wearing shin pads. NO SHINPADS = NO PLAY
Ø Ensure all players have no jewellery or other items that may be considered dangerous to other players. Any player wearing a plaster cast is NOT permitted to play under any circumstances.
DURING THE GAME:
Ø Be observant and give full attention to the game. Remember you are getting paid, so treat it as you would any other job.
Ø Allow no person other than the players and the assistant referee to enter the pitch without the referee’s permission.
Ø Allow NO-ONE to kick balls or to shoot hoops inside when a Futsal game is in play. The next time ball goes out of play, just stop the game and ask them to take their ball outside. Remember the game is under your control and is deemed dangerous if other balls come on the court while a game is in play.
Ø At half tome if people wish to shoot balls ask them to use the end least used by spectators etc to allow people to move about feely, i.e. to the stands, canteen.
Ø Fill in the scoresheet correctly, including marking goals down against the correct name.
Ø Record ALL accidents/injuries, major or minor incidents on the scoresheet. This includes a brief description of the accident, people involved, location of the injury and the time it took place.
AFTER THE GAME
Ø Total the scores on the game sheet and sign it.
Ø Return the game sheet and game ball to the Stingrays Office.
Ø Report and dangerous incidents to the Stingrays Venue Manager. You may be required to fill in a referee’s report.
Ø Help the venue manager put the goals away once all games are complete.
FUTSAL REFEREES MUST ALSO:
Ø Wear the correct referee uniform, including closed in shoes – NO THONGS!!!
Ø Be on time for scheduled games. If you cannot make the scheduled time, call and make sure a substitute referee can be organised.
Ø Work on a rotation system, if an abundant amount of referees are available.
